A graduate of Fordham University, Carrie Leo earned a place on the dean’s list while completing her bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern studies, which included a study abroad program in Cairo, Egypt. After working in the veterinary industry as an assistant in areas ranging from surgery to oncology, she turned her attention to the issue of animal welfare. In 2012, Carrie Leo became the founding director of Caring for Cottontails Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation, Inc.
Through her leadership at Caring for Cottontails, she oversees a diverse range of projects designed to provide care to wild animals. She also spearheads education and community outreach services that aim to alert the public to significant issues impacting the lives of various wildlife species.
Recently, Carrie Leo launched another endeavor stemming from her concerns about the possession of exotic animals and wildlife species. Known as New York State for Exotic Animal Ownership, the endeavor aims to advocate for animals rights at the legislative level.
